A doctoral thesis must be based on an original piece of research that the candidate has designed and carried out. After successfully writing the PhD Comprehensive examination, the student will begin preparations to write and defend the PhD thesis proposal. Departmental approval of a thesis proposal is provided only after the student has been successful in a formal defense of the proposal.

Professor BooHyun Nam of the Central Florida University visited our sikhole lab for conducting collaborative research on sinkhole study. June 8 - July 16, Two high school students Alex Howard and Deirdre Edward from the Florida Young Scholar Program worked with us on data analysis and sinkhole experiments.
